Medal Design
A multi-rayed star with alternating gilt and silvered arms, centered by an enameled medallion depicting St. Hermenegild on horseback over a blue field. The white enamel ring reads “PREMIO A LA CONSTANCIA MILITAR” (“Award for Military Constancy”), surrounded by a green enamel laurel wreath representing honor and perseverance.

Condition
Very good condition with light signs of age and wear. Enamel remains mostly intact, with visible details and patina appropriate for its age. Original pin-back system is functional. Maker’s hallmark is clearly visible on the reverse (see photos).

Historical Significance
The Royal and Military Order of St. Hermenegildo was instituted in 1814 by King Ferdinand VII of Spain to reward officers for long and meritorious service marked by loyalty and discipline. The motto “Premio a la Constancia Militar” highlights dedication and constancy in military service.

A genuine Spanish military decoration — an excellent addition to any collection of European or 19th–20th century orders.
