The star is in gilt metal with red translucent enamel Maltese-style arms and radiating golden rays.
Central medallion depicts the Pillars of Hercules over a blue and gold enamel sea with the motto PLUS ULTRA.
Green enamel wreath and blue medallion with crowned monogram “F y Y” (Ferdinand and Isabella) surrounded by the legend:
“A LA LEALTAD ACRISOLADA POR ISABEL LA CATÓLICA” (“For Proven Loyalty, by Isabella the Catholic”).
Condition:
Excellent and well-preserved example with all enamel intact, vibrant colors, and original gilt finish. The reverse with original pinback fittings in working order.
