Historical Note – Ciskei
Ciskei existed as a nominally independent state from 1972 until 1994. It was not recognized internationally and was dissolved following the end of apartheid, becoming part of South Africa. Medals from Ciskei are now collected as historical artifacts from a short-lived political entity.
